Glen:

Is ~70 years old, has a Ph.D in physics, worked at a national lab, lives in Sacremento.

He bought an autonomous lawn mower from Bliss Power Lawn (916)483-1167 in 2004 in Sacremento after seeing it at a trade expo. Paid ~$700 for mower. He believes this price is on the high end.

He could justify the price because he paid a gardner to mow his lawn before. He believed that this gardner brought weeds into his lawn on his shoes and clothes. After getting the mower and losing the gardner his weed problem decreased.

Glen has a beautiful back yard with a Koi fish pond.

It is an electric unit oritinally thought to be designed by the isralies for mine detection. You bury a wire in the ground for the perimeter, set the mower somewhere inside the line, say go and it circles the lawn twice and then mows in a normal patern until the lawn is done.

In 2008 (4 years after purchase) one of the sensors in the mower broke and now it just circles. Bliss said they could not repair it. He looked into other options. They included shipping it to a location to fix it but this was cost prohibitive (due to shipping cost) and buying a new one (didn’t want to do if it could not be fixed) now he mows his own lawn normally.
